Jokowi Volunteers Raise Funds and Pray Together for Cianjur Earthquake Victims

Jokowi’s volunteers will hold a fundraiser for the victims of the Cianjur earthquake. The fundraising is planned to be carried out in a friendly gathering for Jokowi or Nusantara Bersatu volunteers at the Bung Karno Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, on Saturday (26/11/2022).

“A few days ago our brothers in Cianjur experienced a disaster. We will pray together and will raise donations to be given to our brothers and sisters in need in Cianjur,” said the Chairman of the United Nusantara Committee, Aminuddin Maruf, in a press conference at GBK on Friday (25/11/2022).

“The plan is that after tomorrow’s event, we and the volunteer leaders will go straight to Cianjur,” he added.

It is known that Jokowi’s volunteers have also directly assisted in the evacuation of Cianjur earthquake victims who died and were injured. Volunteers have also built public kitchens and evacuation posts and sent ambulances from Jokowi’s volunteer community.

Meanwhile, the Nusantara Bersatu activities are planned to be held on Saturday from 06.30 WIB to 10.30 WIB. Aminuddin said that President Jokowi would attend the activity.

“Insha Allah tomorrow we will be in touch with all volunteer organs with the president,” said Aminuddin.

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) noted that the number of victims who died as a result of the earthquake in Cianjur reached 272 people as of Thursday (24/11/2022) evening. There are still 39 people who are declared missing.

Head of BNPB Lt. Gen. Suharyanto revealed, of the 39 people who were still missing, 32 people were residents of Cijedil Village, while seven other residents happened to be passing through the village that was buried in the landslide.

“Indeed, we are still searching for days, we hope there are survivors. The proof was that yesterday someone was found safe. So this still uses people’s power, while (the conditions) are landslides, the weather is rainy and the height of the landslides is also not low,” said Suharyanto in a press conference from Cianjur which was broadcast online, Thursday (24/11/2022).

The search for missing victims is still ongoing. However, the search was also hampered by rainy weather and high piles of landslides in the Cianjur earthquake area.
