As SDM Kapolri Encourages Communities to Collaborate on Eradicating Radicalism

Assistant Chief of Police for Human Resources (As SDM) Inspector General Pol Dedi Prasetyo reviews a book entitled “Terrorist Radicalism and Deradicalization in Indonesia” in an effort to increase understanding and overcome the threat of terrorism in this country. This event was held at the Auditorium of STIK PTIK Lemdiklat Polri Wednesday (12/7/23).

Assistant to the Chief of Police for Human Resources (As SDM), Dedi Prasetyo, provides an in-depth look at radicalism and terrorism in Indonesia. In an effort to increase public understanding, Dedi conveyed the importance of understanding and unraveling the roots of the problems of radicalism and terrorism in this country.

“This book captures the hard work of the National Police and related parties in dealing with terrorism, examines terrorism and soft deradicalization to enrich readers’ understanding,” said As Dedi in his remarks.

Dedi spoke about the complexity of the issues of radicalism and terrorism faced by Indonesia. According to him, the spread of radical views and acts of terrorism could endanger the diversity and stability of the country.

Dedi also conveyed the importance of exploring the root causes and identifying factors that influence the growth of radicalism. He stressed the need for cooperation from various elements of society to prevent the spread of radical views and carry out deradicalization.

“We need to understand and unravel the root causes of radicalism and terrorism. With a deep understanding, we can identify the influencing factors and take appropriate preventive action,” said Dedi.

Dedi Prasetyo also underlined the important role of local wisdom in preventing radicalism and terrorism. He invited all parties to work together in developing strategies that counter radicalism and create an environment that is conducive to deradicalization.

The event was attended by various groups, including religious leaders, academics, and representatives from related government institutions. Dedi Prasetyo hopes that this discussion will encourage concrete steps in dealing with radicalism and terrorism and building sustainable peace and security in Indonesia.
